MY PRACTICE AND APPROACH
Recovery Reset
For those in Addiction Recovery:
I have worked in Addiction in Australia and the UK for over 25 years. I have worked in The Priory, in Lancashire, Pierpoint House and The Maudsley NHS Trust in London and numerous NGO’s and Statutory services. I have set up programmes in long term treatment centres and have set up the first structured day programme in the UK. I understand recovery and it’s requirements, it’s challenges and it’s potentially fantastic outcomes. I will work with you – where you are – in whatever recovery framework helps.
I have written the ‘Beyond Addiction’ and ‘Beyond Limitation’ programmes, which have been used in treatment centres here and in Australia. The core learnings of which I now offer on a one to one basis to clients in a recovery process but who may be feeling a little lost along the way. Perhaps the ‘honeymoon’ is over, perhaps you are in the middle of a life crisis or just struggling with the demands of our all too stressful daily life.
You have moved yourself forward but perhaps now want to step back, reevaluate, reset and validate your commitment so far. Whether you are 2 years clean or 22 years clean we can, together, find some calm and present clarity. Whatever type of programme you are committed to, or not, I can help you find that necessary balance to regroup and refocus towards the goals that are important to you.
For those affected by other people’s Addiction:
I have also worked in Victims and Witness services. Setting up the first Magistrates’ Court Witness Service in Lancaster and Preston and working as a trainer for National Victim Support, exploring suicide, rape (male and female), domestic violence, homicide. I am passionate about supporting people who are, or who have been, affected by someone else’s addiction. The often forgotten people who are struggling to cope, even years afterwards, and have both internal and external injuries from trying to help someone whilst drowning themselves. The effect on self-esteem is often devastating and very hard to resolve. It is likely you are in need of ‘recovery’ from these experiences. I offer specialised support in one to one format. You don’t need to carry this anymore.
(Occasionally Recovery Reset offers a one day weekend workshop where support can be gained from other people experiencing much of the same difficulties.) You are not alone.

WHAT I AIM TO ACHIEVE IN MY PRACTICE
To allow patients to feel that:
They are heard
They are supported
They can be open and honest and will be accepted
They can explore
There are never any ‘wrong/silly’ questions
There is a way forward
All experience is a teaching moment
We can choose our path
‘Recovery didn’t open the gates of heaven and let me in
Recovery opened the gates of hell and let me out’
