We first came to Charles at the Dacrelands Clinic almost 2 years ago. My daughter had been diagnosed at age 14 with scoliosis and I had come to a point where I couldn't rely on the NHS to solve this for us. We had to take control of the situation otherwise I feared my daughter would not get the treatment she needed in the time she needed it.

The first appointment with Charles was a mix of emotions for me, the worry of how to pay for it, the fear of it not working but also this empowerment of how we were taking control of the situation. That felt good. Really good and to be honest it validated me as a parent.

That appointment changed the course of our journey. Once Charles had 'done his thing', my daughter stood up and I looked at her back. I had to hold back the tears, she was visibly, physically more upright. I knew from that moment that Charles was going to be a huge part of our lives and I didn't care how we managed it because this treatment was an investment, and we would find a way.

Since that initial app, we have since learnt my daughter's curve is at 40° degrees. We are still waiting on a consultation at Liverpool. This is 2 years on and I dread to think where she would be at if we had relied on our beloved NHS.

My daughter knows when she needs to see Charles because the pain returns. We try to see him at least once a month. Every time she comes out physically more upright and without pain.

What's more, my daughter has learnt a huge life lesson that she is in control of her health and can always do something more than what's on offer. Seeing Charles has become an extremely important habit for her, one she will not compromise on.

The process of being pregnant for me was a very difficult one. I did not wish to simply use conventional medicine and having needed a caesarean birth due to previous surgery, I wanted homeopathic support to deal with the fear I had leading up to the operation, the healing afterwards and the emotional and physical implications for myself and my son. There is a tendency to think that spending time and money on our own health and wellbeing is something we can put off, or that we can sort out for ourselves.
