Sioe Lan Tjoa (Bsc, MSc( Exercises physiology), MCSP, MACP, AACP,HPC)
In 1987 Sioelan was first introduced to the Physiotherapy program at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Intrigued and fascinated by the practical skills that physiotherapists hold and the prospect of being able to help improve the quality of patients' lives, she decided to train as a physiotherapist.
Sioelan obtained her Masters degree in Exercise physiology and Sports Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in 1991 and qualified as a physiotherapist in 1992. Her initial experience as a qualified physiotherapist was gained by working in numerous private practices, nursing homes and rehabilitation clinics in the Netherlands.
She moved to the UK in 1996 where she worked as a locum initially. Her love of rock climbing and fell walking encouraged her to settle down in Cumbria. Always eager to learn more she then completed the prestigious MACP course (specialist course in manual therapy) as part of the Post Graduate Physiotherapy MSc course at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Her specialist field of interest is postural and movement analysis, muscle imbalance, manual and manipulation therapy, acupuncture, reactivation and pain/ stress management and rehabilitation.
Her main strengths are strong analytical assessment, clear explanations of the problem(s) and effective structural solutions to gain long term improvement and making you feel at ease during your consultation.
Sioelan used to do gymnastics and played tennis as a youngster. At present her main hobbies are travelling, road cycling, mountain biking, fell walking, cross country and downhill skiing, running, swimming and any other mental or physical challenges that cross her path.
