My primary focus is to work with people in chronic and ongoing pain of all descriptions, using different massage therapy skills and techniques to support each individual client to reduce pain. I also love to work with clients who are looking for a therapist to release tired/tense muscles and to help manage stress. I work with techniques inspired by both Eastern and Western massage traditions, including trigger point therapy, myofascial release and deep tissue work. My work can be of benefit for conditions such as back pain, frozen shoulder, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and RSI, headaches and migraines, sports injuries, plantar fasciitis and many others.
Having spent many years working in the legal profession, I made the decision to change course and work as a massage therapist having spent many years as a client. As a sufferer of chronic pain myself I know first hand how profoundly useful massage therapy can be in managing pain and discomfort and in allowing us to continue with our everyday lives. I qualified as a massage therapist with the Jing Institute of Advanced Massage Therapy in Brighton in March 2015. I continue to study with them, and will complete an Advanced Certificate in Massage Therapy in September 2017, which forms the first stage of the highest level massage qualification currently available in the UK.
I work with each client to understand the nature of their discomfort or pain and to develop a treatment plan which addresses their specific needs. My goal is to see a measurable improvement in pain or range of movement (depending on the situation) within 1-6 regular sessions, before moving to semi-regular maintenance sessions to ensure good progress and ongoing care.
