Counselling and Psychological therapy give the opportunity to explore emotions and relationship issues. Counselling provides a space to be listened to in confidence and understood in depth.
Psychodynamic Counselling is based on psychoanalytic theory that has its roots in the psychoanalysis of Freud, Jung, Melanie Klein, D.W. Winnicott and others. This approach sees early relationships greatly influencing our adult perception of the world and others. In counselling the dynamics with others and the world emerge when you share what is uppermost in your mind in the session.
My role as Counselor is to understand what is really going on for you and to suggest connections that you might not have thought of. As the work progresses you may gain a greater understanding of how you relate to others and how they perceive you.
Gaining insight is a gradual process and as the sessions continue you may be able to make changes to your life, find greater meaning and live life more fully.
Psychodynamic and analytic processes are the bedrock of my clinical work, however I do adopt some flexibility in integrating other cognitive, and attachment approaches depending on the issues you bring.
