What is physiotherapy?
We use a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential. This can assist the healing process and increase the reduction of pain and stiffness. We also have an important role in rehabilitation, for example, helping people who have had a fracture or are still experiencing symptoms after the advice and treatment given by their NHS physiotherapist. However, we don't just offer treatment; our advice can help you prevent problems from returning or even from happening in the first place.

What does the treatment involve?
Prior to any treatment being given your physiotherapist will assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and help you to understand the nature of the problem. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, leisure activities, and general health, including advice on how you can help yourself. For example, you may be shown exercises that you can do between treatment sessions.

Throughout the treatment or re-training programme, we will evaluate your progress at regular intervals, modifying treatment and goals when necessary. Wherever possible we will also work with you to help you learn to manage your condition independently for the longer term.
